Exosome Therapy: How Many Sessions, and How Long Do Results Last?

There is no standard number of sessions. The studies we cite used a few treatments over a few weeks and checked results after one to three months.

None of the sources we cite shows how long results last, and several call for longer follow-up.

What the studies used

Protocols described in three published studies. They are examples, not recommendations.
StudyWhat was doneWhen results were checked
Randomized trial, PMID 42621380Laser with a topical exosome-mimetic product and polynucleotide, three treatments within four weeks3 months
Split-face trial, PMID 42635327Radiofrequency microneedling, then a topical extracellular vesicle product on one sideWeeks 4 and 12
Split-face study of PRP, PMID 41460004Three microneedling sessions four weeks apart, with PRP on one side (PRP is a different product, shown for comparison)1 month after the last session

What is not known

  • The right number of sessions. None of the reviews we cite gives a standard. Protocols differ by study and by product.
  • How long results last. A 2026 review of 19 human studies describes short-term effects and a lack of follow-up. (PMID 41756341) A review of microneedling with exosomes asks for longer follow-up too. (PMID 42027180)
  • What clinics offer. We have not collected clinic protocols. Our price survey counts only single-session prices, so it says nothing about how many sessions a clinic advises.

Be wary of any clinic that promises a fixed result. Skin changes over time, with or without a treatment.

Recovery after the device step

After microneedling, a review of 85 articles found that redness, swelling, pain and dryness were expected for up to 7 days. (PMID 34448760) Your clinic may give different guidance for its device and product. Ask for it in writing.

What to ask a clinic

  1. How many sessions do you suggest for me, and why?
  2. How far apart, and what does the plan cost in total?
  3. What happens to my price if I stop after one?
  4. What do you expect me to see, and when? Is that written down?
  5. What is the aftercare plan, in writing?
