How We Choose Clinics

We have not signed any partner clinic yet, so we list none. This page sets out the checks a clinic has to pass before we would.

Where things stand

Today there is a waitlist, organized by state. When a clinic passes all the checks below and covers your ZIP code, we tell you, and only then do we ask whether you agree to share your details with it. We do not name clinics that have not passed.

The checks

  1. License. We confirm, at the state licensing board, that the professional who would treat you holds a current license in the state.
  2. Record. We look for disciplinary actions on that license.
  3. The product. The clinic names the product, its maker and the documents it can show about it. We do not work with clinics that offer products by any route other than topical use on the skin.
  4. The device. If a device is used, the clinic names it and says what the FDA has cleared it for.
  5. Prices. The clinic gives a written quote that says what it includes: product, device and number of sessions.
  6. Plain advertising. The clinic's own marketing makes no medical promises and no promise of fixed results.

How matching works

A clinic can receive details only from people who live in the area it covers. We ask your ZIP code for that reason. We ask separately for your consent before sharing your details with a clinic, and you can say no and stay on the waitlist.

We never send your details to a clinic outside your area.

How this is paid for

A partner clinic may compensate us. We apply the checks above first. The terms of any agreement will be reviewed by a lawyer before we sign one, and we will update this page and our editorial policy to describe them.

What we do not do

  • We do not treat anyone, and we are not a clinic.
  • We do not rate clinics or show reviews.
  • We do not promise that a checked clinic is right for you. The decision to be treated is yours and your doctor's.
